From Frank Watson at 2008-07-20 18:39:28 : Just finished douro cruise which turned around at Barca de Alva, fascinated by the railway station and surrounds. Must have been quite a place during WW11. You should read A Small Murder in Lisbon by Robert Wilson, you can imagine what went on at Barca!
From Paul at 2009-02-06 16:04:26 : I passed through this station in July 1983 on my way to Spain from Porto. It was the most stunning line. I recall arriving at the station at about 4 in the afternoon and asked in my broken Portuguese what time the next train to Spain was. The reply was 2:30, the next day. Yup, only one train a day crossed the border, and I had 22 hours to kill in Barca D'Alva :-(
